OUR STORY

2 Pears Films is a video production company born from a shared passion for storytelling and a deep bond between two families. The company was founded by two creative couples: Sean and Gemma, who run a theatre production company, and Steve and Kate, who established their own video production company. The roots of this collaboration stretch back to the lifelong friendship between Gemma and Kate, who grew up together, spending their childhoods side by side. Over the years, their families became inseparably close, laying the foundation for a strong creative partnership.

In their twenties, Gemma and Kate met their partners, Sean and Steve, who, like them, were deeply involved in the arts. Sean and Gemma channeled their passion for the stage into launching a theatre production company, while Steve and Kate turned their creativity toward filmmaking and established their own video production business. Both couples carved successful paths in their respective fields, earning recognition for their engaging and impactful work.

As their individual companies grew, the two couples frequently collaborated, finding common ground in their creative visions and shared commitment to producing meaningful content. These collaborations inspired them to take the next step: combining their talents and expertise into a single venture. In 2025, they officially launched 2 Pears Films, a production company dedicated to producing narrative drama films that address youth issues with authenticity and heart.

The name "2 Pears Films" symbolizes the partnership between the two couples, representing their unity and complementary strengths. Focused on stories that resonate with young audiences, the company aims to create thought-provoking films that explore the challenges and triumphs of youth, sparking dialogue and understanding through the power of film.

Sean is a writer and director.  He trained originally as an actor at The Oxford School of Drama, but soon found that his passion lay in writing and directing, rather than performing.

He is a member of the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), a regular guest director for The Cambridge Shakespeare Festival, a trained facilitator for US based Narrative 4, and is currently continuing his personal and professional development with an MSt in Writing for Performance at The University of Cambridge (Selwyn College).  His interests lie in the interplay between modern breakthroughs in Narrative Theory, and the ancient magic, myth and ritual of simple story-telling.

As well as his role as co-artistic director, Sean is our resident writer and head of project development.  This sees him take the lead on all project research, development and writing.
